Today I read "Mental Illness In The 19th Century" which was about how the confused were seen in a different manner. People believed that mental illness is caused by witchcraft and demonic reasons thus the ''normal'' people decided to open facilities for the people that they seemed are not the same.Citizens concluded that insanity was caused by brain damage from outside tissues of the brain. As the establishments started to increase from population the doctors began to become frustrated and started to use physical maneuvers to ''cure'' the patients. Also the doctors accredited that alcoholism and masturbation was the roots of madness; later on then using electricity and painful procedures by the mid 1900s. :D Comment!!
